A meeting of Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Sergey Aksenov, the Head of the Republic of Crimea, took place in framework of the IV Yalta International Economic Forum on April 20.

Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Znaur Gassiev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation, participated in the meeting.

The perspectives of cooperation between the two Republics were discussed during the meeting.

In framework of the IV Yalta International Economic Forum Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, met with Petros Tseggay Asged, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Eritrea to the Russian Federation, on April 19.

A thorough exchanged of opinion on the perspectives of the bilateral relations as well as on current international agenda took place.

I framework of the IV Yalta International Economic Forum Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, met with the official delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Samer Al-Khalil, the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, on April 19.

Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Gennadii Kokoev, the Minister of Economic Development, and Znaur Gassiev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation, participated in the meeting.

April 19 saw Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, and members of the South Ossetian delegation participating in solemn opening ceremony of the IV Yalta International Economic Forum.

In his welcoming speech Anatolii Bibilov told participants and guests of the Forum about the perspectives, which would extension of contacts with the Republic of Crimea and the Russian Federation give to the states - participants of the Forum.

April 18 saw Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, leaving for the Republic of Crimea, where he will upon an invitation from Sergey Aksenov, the Head of the Republic of Crimea, participate in the IV Yalta International Economic Forum on April 19-21.

Pertaining to escalation of situation in Syria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia strongly condemns the night air attacks on the Syrian territory and considers these actions as illegal military interference under far-fetched and fabricated pretext.

We in the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia have heard with anxiety and bewilderment the news about the barbarous air strike by the USA, the Great Britain and France on the territory of a sovereign state – the Syrian Arab Republic.

This unwarranted military action, which looks like a classic military adventure, will without any doubt damage the fragile peace that has established after the many-years-long civil war in Syria.

Protocol to the Agreement on Cooperation on Persian leopard recruitment, conservation and monitoring in the Republic of South Ossetia has been signed with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on April 13, 2018 in Tskhinval.

Pertaining to “peaceful initiatives” of Georgia

Georgian authorities, having recognized the impossibility of “returning back” South Ossetia and Abkhazia forcefully in short term, has changed its tactics. Now the concept of peaceful reconciliation titled “State Strategy on Occupied Territories: Engagement Through Cooperation” and number of so-called peaceful humanitarian initiatives, which are loudly advertised in the world by the official Tbilisi, are on the agenda.

A meeting of the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitrii Medoev with Vladimir Koshelev, a merited polar explorer of the USSR, Assistant to Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma, and Victor Bunin, a merited citizen of Tskhinval, took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on April 2, 2018.

Pertaining to the results of the 43rd round of the Geneva International Discussions

March 27-28, 2018 saw a regular round of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia. A delegation from the Republic of South Ossetia, headed by Murat Dzhioev, the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement, delegations from the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation and the USA as well as representatives of the EU, the UN and the OSCE took part in negotiations.

On March 28 Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, visited the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia and left a record in the Book of condolences in honor of the victims of Kemerovo shopping mall fire.
