Murat Dzhioev, the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement, heading South Ossetian mission, hosted a meeting with the Co-Chairmen of the Geneva International Discussions representing the EU, OSCE and the UN, who arrived to Tskhinval within a visit anticipating the coming round of the Discussions, on June, 11.

Issues concerning security about South Ossetia-Georgian border and the agenda of the coming 32nd round of the discussions, which are planned for June, 1, were talked over.

The Second Forum of Young Diplomats was held in Moscow on June 2-3, 2015. Representatives of Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and South Ossetia diplomatic departments took part in the forum. A wide range of international agenda items was discussed on an informal meeting with leaders of Russian Foreign Ministry and experts in sphere of international relations that was held in friendly atmosphere.

Pertaining to the resolution on refugees supported by the United Nations General Assembly

Georgian draft resolution on problem of displaced persons and refugees from South Ossetia and Abkhazia was supported for the 7th time by the United Nations General Assembly on June 3, 2015. 75 countries voted “for” and 16 countries voted “against” adopting the resolution. It is good that the number of countries opposing the writing of the document grew for 3 units.

Concern on human rights protecting system in the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia was marked in the quarterly report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and expressed by Ivica Dacic, the Foreign Minister of Serbia. As it was stated, “fully functioning OSCE mission should be returned to the Republics and access to the territories should be provided for international observers”.

- The professional day of South Ossetia diplomacy is celebrated on May, 28. It is possible to say that South Ossetia diplomacy came to a new, qualitative level compared to the time the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RSO had been established? What is the main focus area of the activity conducted by South Ossetian Foreign Ministry, if we take into consideration the current political situation?

International conference “National Independence and International Interdependence” organized by a parliament group and Mediterranen Mare Nostrum Federation supported by the Regional Council of Sardinia was hold in Sassari, Sardinia on May, 16, 2015.

Professor Mauro Murgia, the President of Italy-South Ossetia Friendship Society, delivered a greeting message from the President of South Ossetia.

The participants of the conference appealed to the international community to recognize the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia.

 

The signed treaty between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation which allegedly “does violence to sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and is not legally binding” was condemned by the Council of Europe Deputy Ministers Committee within discussion of the agenda “The Council of Europe and the Georgian conflict” on May 12, 2015.

May, 5 saw a meeting of German and Georgian Foreign Ministers, when Frank-Walter Steinmaier spoke once again in support of “territorial integrity of Georgia” and declared non-recognition of the Treaty on Alliance and Integration signed between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation. The fact that Germany is supporting Georgia isn't new. The preconceived opinion on the treaty that isn't directed against third countries and according to the contents is aimed to solve a range of social and economic problems as well as security issues causes bewilderment.

Diplomatic missions of Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics of in the Republic of South Ossetia were officially opened today. Natalya Horsheva, the Chief of Administration of LPR Head, was heading the delegation of the Republic. The delegation of DPR was headed by Alexander Coffman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kosta Pukhaev, the First Deputy Head of RSO President Administration, Alan Kochiev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rodion Siukaev, the State Councilor of the President on social problems, participated in the ceremony on South Ossetian side.
