January 19 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the first referendum on the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. Thirty years ago, the people of South Ossetia took a fateful political step towards the formation of their statehood. The holding of the referendum became a great holiday for the people of South Ossetia.

In connection with the multinational military trainings “Agile Spirit – 2021” in Georgia

From July 26 to August 6, the multinational exercise “Agile Spirit – 2021” will be held in Georgia for the tenth time, in which 2500 servicemen from Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, US, Turkey, Ukraine and Estonia will take part, including about 1500 Georgian and 700 American troops. A large quantity of the most modern weaponry and military equipment was delivered to the territory of Georgia.

For several years in a row, Georgia has been submitting to the United Nations General Assembly a draft resolution on refugees and displaced persons from Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Repeating from year to year the text of the document, Georgia is trying to impose on the world community a one-sided, politicized and distorted vision of the refugee problem in order to reinforce its illegitimate territorial claims.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has information that relatives of the citizen of Georgia Z. Gakheladze, who is serving a sentence in South Ossetia for illegally crossing the state border of South Ossetia and the use of firearms against military personnel of the Republic's border service, being incited by the Georgian authorities and some representatives of the non-governmental sector, are preparing a provocation - an attempt to cross illegally the state border of South Ossetia.

December 4 saw another statement by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made in Brussels that Russia should end its recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia and withdraw its forces “from these regions of Georgia”.

The consolidated position of NATO members regarding South Ossetia and Abkhazia is well known, and similar calls, accompanying traditional statements on support for Georgia in its aspiration to join NATO, have long ago turned into a necessary ritual.

Pertaining to the 10th Anniversary of Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation

Large scale solemnities, dedicated to the 10th Anniversary of Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation will be held on August 26. This date is entered by gold letters in the historical chronicle of the Ossetian people.

Pertaining to Noble Partner 2018 – multinational military exercises conducted in Georgia

Large-scale military exercises Noble Partner 2018, in which more than 3 000 soldiers from 13 NATO member states are participating, started in Georgia for the fourth time on August 01, 2018. The US aircraft and German armored vehicles are involved as well.

For several years already has been the UN General Assembly accepting draft resolution on refugees and displaced persons from South Ossetia and Abkhazia prepared by Georgian party. While delivering again and again the same writing of the document Georgia tries to impose on international community a unilateral politicized vision of the problem of refugees in order to support its non-legitimate territorial claims.
