The decision of the European Parliament to ban the issuance of visas to citizens of the Russian Federation who have received passports in the territories of the new Russian regions, as well as in the Republic of Crimea, the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia is regarded as another unfriendly attack by the countries of the European Union, a gross violation of the fundamental principles of European democracy and, in fact, is blatant discrimination against Russian citizens living in these territories.

October 11 saw the launch of the Caucasus Eagle 2022 joint military exercises, held by special military forces of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey at the military base Mukhrovani, near Tbilisi. The purpose of the exercises is sharing experience, improving professional capacity and management among military units of the three states. Earlier, on October 7, Georgia signed an agreement with Turkey on supply of armored vehicles which comply with NATO standards.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitrii Medoev gave a comment to Sputnik South Ossetia on the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov about Russia's refusal to conduct monitoring flights in the 10-kilometer zone near the borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The accusations against South Ossetia and Russia, voiced in the next statement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, could not surprise anyone with their originality. For at least the last decade, one can observe how Georgian propaganda unsuccessfully tries to reverse the situation and return lost positions to Georgia.

The European Parliament has prepared a draft resolution, which, inter alia, urges the Georgian authorities to “try to extend the benefits of the AA [EU-Georgia Association Agreement] and the DCFTA [Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area] to the populations of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia”.

As it became known, the draft document on the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement has been approved by the Foreign Affairs Committee and put on the agenda of the plenary session in Strasbourg this week.
