On November 24, within the framework of a visit to the Italian Republic at the invitation of a group of deputies of the Italian parliament, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D.N. Medoev visited the Montecitorio Palace (Palazzo Montecitorio) in Rome, where the Chamber of deputies of Italy sits.
In palace, Dmitrii Medoev met with the Italian parliamentary deputies from the Alternative party, the vice-president of the Foreign Affairs Committee Pino Cabras and the Italian parliamentary deputy from the Liga party, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vito Comencini.
During the conversation, the sides discussed the prospects for establishing inter-parliamentary and inter-party contacts, issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including the possibility of implementing bilateral projects and holding joint expert meetings and conferences.
Dmitrii Medoev thanked for the invitation to visit the Italian parliament, the warm welcome, as well as for understanding and supporting the interests of the Republic of South Ossetia, which seeks to expand international contacts and establish friendly, equal and partnership relations with all states of the world.
The Minister noted that the deputies of the Italian parliament have the right to know the position of South Ossetia regarding the processes taking place around it, despite the Georgian-American propaganda, which inflates the myth of the desire for peace and fraternal relations, but in fact blocks the emergence of information from South Ossetia and in every possible way prevents the participation of its representatives at various international venues and meetings.
They also discussed a number of issues on the international and regional agenda, security problems in the Caucasus in the light of the new configuration that emerged after the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, touched upon the problems of bilateral and multilateral relations of the countries, the role of Russia in supporting peace in South Ossetia.
The meeting was held in a business-like constructive spirit.
