Comment by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia pertaining to the statement by Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia

In his speech at the margins of the 147th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly held in Luanda, Angola under the thesis “Parliamentary action for peace, justice and strong institutions”, Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, touched upon the thesis of so-called occupation, having mentioned in that regards historical belonging of South Ossetia and Abkhazia to Georgia.

Obviously, the thing he voiced from the rostrum of the Assembly, is a vivid example of imposing the non-existing agenda on the international community. Historically, South Ossetia and Abkhazia have never belonged to Georgia.

The Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia are the states whose peoples won with blood the right to live in their land and establish relations with other countries on the basis of generally recognized principles – respect for the rights of nations, non-interference, non-use of force or threat of force.
