On January 29, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev participated in a research and practical conference “The Ukrainian crisis: origin, development trends, geopolitical context”, organized by the A. Tibilov South Ossetian State University and the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia.

The discussion was held on the origins and the ideological and political details of the Ukrainian nationalism/Nazism, current situation with the glorification of Nazism, the spread of neo-Nazism, the escalation of racism and xenophobia in Ukraine and the attempts undertaken by the Russian side to preserve the historical truth.

State Advisor to the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Konstantin Kochiev read a welcoming address of the South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev to the attendees of the event. Rector of the A. Tibilov South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Alborov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev made welcoming speeches.

During the event, presentations were made by prominent experts of the Ukrainian issues – Chief Advisor of the Second CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Eduard Vertyanov, Doctor of Philosophy, Director of the ANO Center for Public and Information Cooperation “Europe” Eduard Popov, Director of the Tiraspol Institute of Social and Political Research and Regional Development, Candidate of History, Igor Shornikov.
