The Announcement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in connection with the expected ‘peace march’

For some past time we have received information that on 26 August, 2011 on the third anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia recognition by the Russian Federation the official powers of Georgia intend to carry out a large-scale provocation on the border with South Ossetia.

In the framework of this project implementation Georgian special service prepare the ‘peace march’- an attempt of mass illegal crossing of South Ossetia state boundary of with the participation of so-called refugees - the citizens who have voluntarily left the territory of South Ossetia during the Georgian aggression in the August of 2008.

The fact that Georgian leaders consciously force the situation in the places of ‘refugees’ settlements invokes alertness: mass eviction from the places of compact habitation continues; social problems are not solved. At the same time revanchist sentiments stir up in their midst. Official Tbilisi tends to promise people ‘fast return to the places of their former habitation’ instead of real help, thereby pushing them to take part in doubtful adventures and provocations.

In Tskhinval the actions of Tbilisi are considered as provocative which can lead to new destabilization of the situation. In such environment South Ossetia appealed to the Mission of EU observers in Georgia to assume the measures on prevention of the another provocation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia announces that in case of complication of the situation South-Ossetia side will have to assume the measures not to allow the unauthorized crossing of the state boundary and the responsibility for the possible consequences will lie on the Georgian side.
