Today commemorative events, dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Commemorative events dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the horrific tragedy that occurred near the village of Yered were held in the Republic of South Ossetia today.

On March 18, 1991, Georgian armed formations seized a truck with Ossetian civilians. After beastly tortures and humiliation, 12 people were buried alive in one mass grave in the village of Ered. The cruelty and enormity of this crime cannot be comprehended. Only two years later, in 1993, it became possible to discover the burial site and identify the victims. That monstrous atrocity of the Georgian nationalists has remained unpunished, and those responsible for the murder of civilians have not been convicted.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev and employees of the Ministry participated in the commemorative event and laid flowers to the mass grave at the Tskhinval town cemetery.
